Victor Osimhen Snubs Al Hilal's Double Salary Offer, Joins Galatasaray

Victor Osimhen has chosen to join Turkish giants Galatasaray over a lucrative offer from Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal, despite the latter offering almost double his salary. The Nigerian striker has made a significant impact against Premier League opposition, scoring six times in six matches.

Osimhen's decision to favour Istanbul over Saudi Arabia comes despite Al Hilal's substantial financial offer. The Saudi club reportedly proposed a salary almost double what Galatasaray could provide. However, the 24-year-old opted for the Turkish side, where he has already made a significant mark.

Osimhen's goal-scoring prowess against English teams has been notable. He has found the net against Tottenham, Leicester City, and Chelsea. Yet, several Premier League clubs, in need of a proven striker, did not sign him due to factors like transfer cost, wages, taxes, and injury concerns. His recent permanent move to Galatasaray after a loan spell, coupled with his impressive form in the Turkish Süper Lig rather than Serie A, may have contributed to this.

In his most recent European outing, Osimhen scored the winning penalty against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League, keeping Galatasaray's strong start alive. His dynamic and relentless performance against one of Europe's most organized defenses was a testament to his abilities.

Galatasaray signed Osimhen for a record-breaking €75 million, shattering their previous transfer record of €20 million. The Nigerian international earns about €15 million a year in salary and another €5 million in image rights, due to Turkey's 20% top tax rate. Osimhen's signing has not only bolstered Galatasaray's squad but also boosted the club's international visibility and energized supporters, signaling that Turkey's biggest club can still compete for marquee names.
