Video Discovery Agent set to be revealed by Moments Lab at IBC2025
Moments Lab, a participant in the 2025 IBC Accelerator Programme project: AI Assistance Agents in Live Production, is set to unveil its groundbreaking AI-powered research assistant for video production teams at IBC2025 from September 12-15 at the RAI Amsterdam. The new tool, named the Discovery Agent, promises to revolutionise video content management by enabling fast, precise search and retrieval of clips, quotes, or scenes from extensive media libraries [1][2][3].
The Discovery Agent is powered by Moments Lab’s advanced multimodal AI indexing technology called MXT-2. This technology mimics human understanding of video content, analysing and describing videos comprehensively. It can identify key moments with time-coded shot descriptions through a feature called Custom Moments. Additionally, MXT-2’s Custom Insights can automatically generate text of any length—such as titles, descriptions, or articles—and classify content according to user-defined parameters [1][3][4].
The Discovery Agent offers a natural language, chat-style interface that allows users to simply describe what they are looking for, bypassing the need for vague keyword searches or technical expertise. This makes locating specific video content near-instantaneous, significantly streamlining research workflows [1][2][3][4].
Moments Lab CTO Fred Petitpont and Richard Yu, chief product officer at LucidLink, will discuss their AI video search technologies at the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday, Sept. 13. The Discussion will focus on powering a real-time workflow for Brut-Europe’s media brand known for short-form video content [5].
By remembering every video in the archive and enabling precise, natural conversation-based queries, the Discovery Agent transforms video content management from a complex, time-consuming task into a much more efficient and user-friendly process. Beta users have described it as a "significant life improvement" for their teams, indicating its strong potential to enhance productivity and content retrieval accuracy [1][4].
Moments Lab solutions enable organizations to centralise, index, and sort videos automatically with AI. They also facilitate the sharing and distribution of media files to key partners [6]. The Discovery Agent will be available on the Moments Lab platform or via its public API, allowing integration with other production tools and workflows [1][3][4].
