Vietnam Aims to Lead Southeast Asia in AI by 2030
Vietnam is making significant strides in artificial intelligence, aiming to become the leading AI nation in Southeast Asia by 2030. The country's focus on AI was highlighted at the recent 'NVIDIA AI Day' in Ho Chi Minh City, attended by over 800 people.
The event, hosted by Nvidia, featured 15 sessions on AI topics and showcased 10 local startups. Chuck Tybur, head of Nvidia's partner network, emphasized the need for AI models tailored to the Vietnamese language and culture. He also suggested the importance of locally operated and managed 'AI factories' in Vietnam.
Vietnam's AI ambitions are supported by the Vietnam National Innovation Center (NIC), established in 2019. The NIC serves as a hub for research, development, and technology transfer. The country plans to launch three major data centers by 2030 to bolster its AI capabilities. Nvidia, as a hardware supplier, stands to benefit from these developments.
Vietnam's commitment to AI is clear, with a strategy aiming for leadership in Southeast Asia by 2030. The establishment of the NIC and plans for major data centers demonstrate the country's serious intent. The 'NVIDIA AI Day' in Ho Chi Minh City underscored the potential of AI in Vietnam, with local startups and tailored AI models at the forefront.
