Vietnam SuperPort Unveils Off-Airport Cargo Terminal Boosting China-ASEAN Trade
Vietnam SuperPort has unveiled its Off-Airport Cargo Terminal (OACT), a strategic link in the multimodal supply chain, set to be officially launched soon. The OACT is strategically located along the Northern Economic Corridor, connecting major seaports and airports, and extending to Yunnan and Kunming in China. The OACT, covering over 11,000 square metres, boasts an annual handling capacity of approximately 50,000 tonnes. It is one of Vietnam's pioneering Off-Airport Cargo Terminals, fully integrated with functions as an 'extended air cargo terminal'. The facility aims to enhance Vietnam's integration into the global supply chain by facilitating the flow of goods between Vietnam and the China-ASEAN region, and linking directly to international airlines and key markets. The OACT was presented by Yap Kwong Weng, CEO of Vietnam SuperPort, at an event attended by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and president of FIATA Turgut Erkeskin. In the long-term vision, the OACT plans for full digitalisation, establishing an integrated logistics platform for online tracking and booking services. Vietnam SuperPort, a multimodal logistics hub spanning 83 hectares in Phu Tho Province, is set to develop the OACT into a modern, intelligent cargo terminal using AI and robotics. The OACT, a strategic link in Vietnam's multimodal supply chain, is poised to boost the country's trade and logistics capabilities. With its strategic location, advanced facilities, and digitalisation plans, the OACT is set to play a pivotal role in Vietnam's integration into the global supply chain. Despite the lack of information on specific partnership companies, the OACT's official launch is eagerly anticipated.
