Yellowknife Lithium Project in NWT started drilling, reveals LIFT
The Yellowknife Lithium Project, located in the Northwest Territories, Canada, is set to witness a significant development as Li-FT Power Ltd. announces the commencement of drilling on August 25, 2025. The drilling campaign, spanning over 3,445 meters, will focus on the Shorty (2,655 meters) and Nite (790 meters) dykes 13.
The primary objective of this drilling programme is to delve deeper into high-grade spodumene intercepts that remain open at the limits of the 2023 and 2024 drill campaigns 1. This focused, strategically spaced campaign aims to delineate high-grade lithium spodumene zones to depths of up to 350 meters, supporting the project's resource expansion and development goals 25.
The Shorty pegmatite, a significant component of the project, is composed of several sub-parallel dykes that define a spodumene pegmatite corridor at least 1.4 km long and up to 100 m wide. The drilling will target the northeast and southwest ends of the Shorty dyke, offsetting previous holes YLP-0284 and YLP-0097 at the northeast end, and YLP-0079 and YLP-0059 at the southwest end 1.
Meanwhile, the Nite pegmatite complex, a north-northeast trending corridor of parallel-trending dykes exposed for at least 1.4 km, will see two new deep holes drilled at a vertical depth of 300 m from surface, offsetting from YLP-0182 and YLP-0286 3.
The Yellowknife Lithium Project boasts an estimated resource of 50.4 million tons at 1.00% Li₂O, ranking it among the top spodumene deposits in the Americas 4. The project's mineral resource estimate, as per the latest data, covers 8 spodumene-bearing pegmatite dykes, including the Shorty and Nite dykes.
Francis MacDonald, President & CEO of Li-FT Power, has stated that the focus for 2025 is on environmental baseline work, critical data collection, and resuming drilling. Simultaneously, the company is advancing a two-year environmental assessment with a $7 million investment to accelerate permitting, and exploring cost-efficient mineral processing near Edmonton, Alberta 4.
